Built on Experience
Academy of Hair Design was founded by salon professionals who saw the need for stronger, more career-focused beauty education. What began as in-salon training evolved into a school built to prepare students for real success behind the chair.
Our Story
Academy of Hair Design was created with a simple goal: to better prepare future beauty professionals for real careers in the salon industry.

As the owners of Duncan Brothers Salon, a respected family-owned salon in Oklahoma, we saw firsthand a gap between traditional cosmetology education and the practical skills new stylists needed to succeed behind the chair. To bridge that gap, we developed an in-salon training program for every new team member, focused on building confidence, refining technical skills, and preparing stylists to work with real clients.

That program proved incredibly successful, helping launch the careers of countless beauty professionals. As demand grew, it became clear that this level of hands-on, career-focused education needed a dedicated space of its own.
That vision became Academy of Hair Design.

Today, AHD continues to build on that same foundation: combining state board requirements with real-world salon training, mentorship from experienced educators, and partnerships with leading names in the beauty industry to create an education that goes beyond the basics.

We believe cosmetology school should do more than help students pass their boards. It should prepare them to build a successful, lasting career in the beauty industry.
